Vaginal Rejuvenation
Many women lose vaginal elasticity after childbirth, menopause, or cancer treatments. This laxity leads to physical discomfort, bladder incontinence, and decreased sexual enjoyment. While many women still find this sensitive topic difficult to discuss openly, it is one that causes many to lose confidence in themselves and their bodies. Vaginal rejuvenation allows women to regain self-esteem and a more youthful labia region. These treatments tighten the vaginal opening, reduce urinary leakage, increase arousal and sensitivity, and offer relief from painful intercourse.

Candidates for Vaginal Rejuvenation
Women who are suffering from the physical and emotional discomfort that stems from their vaginal area may consider vaginal rejuvenation. Most women who are interested in this treatment are past their childbearing years or going through menopause; however, younger women may still benefit. Women wishing to undergo vaginal rejuvenation should have a routine Pap smear and a pelvic exam six months before their procedure. Candidates for vaginal rejuvenation are generally healthy, at a stable weight, and experience at least one of the following:
- Overly large or irregularly shaped labia
- Urinary incontinence
- Vaginal laxity
- Vaginal dryness
- Painful intercourse
- Decreased libido
- Reduced sexual responsiveness
- Vaginal irritation or itchiness
- Discomfort during athletic activities
Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedure
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty surgically reduces the size of the inner labia to enhance a woman’s comfort and confidence. This procedure is performed in one of two ways. The wedge method uses small incisions to remove a portion of tissue on each side of the inner labia. Once this wedge is removed, the incisions are closed where there is very little chance of visible scarring. This technique maintains the natural border and coloring of the labia minora. The second option is the trim method, where a narrow strip of skin is removed along the entire length of the labia minora. This approach eliminates the darker edge of the labia and leaves a smooth border.
O-Shot®
The O-Shot® (“orgasm shot”) uses blood-derived growth factors to rejuvenate the vaginal region. This minimally-invasive treatment is ideal for women suffering from a decreased sex drive, a reduced ability to orgasm, or vaginal dryness. The O-Shot® is a platelet-rich plasma injection that reduces urinary problems and increases sensitivity to allow for more enjoyable sex. PRP is a derivative of your blood which contains a high number of growth factors. When PRP is injected into the vaginal area, it stimulates new cell development. The O-Shot® only requires a local anesthetic and takes under 30 minutes, during which a small sample of blood is removed, run through a centrifuge, and injected into the target area.
VIVEVE® (rf treatment)
Radio-frequency vaginal rejuvenation restores elasticity and lubrication to the vaginal region and tightens the areas around the bladder and urethra. Laser energy penetrates the sub-dermal layers of the vaginal skin to stimulate cell and collagen growth. Immediate and progressive results include an improvement in bladder leakage, vaginal laxity(looseness), and sexual function.
Results
While some results are noticeable immediately after vaginal rejuvenation, the most significant improvements occur within the weeks and months after your treatment. Women will gradually notice the tightening of the labia region, the lessening of urinary incontinence, the increased comfort when participating in physical sports, and the heightened pleasure during sexual activity. Labiaplasty offers the longest-lasting results with improvements experienced for several years. Benefits from the O-Shot® increase over the following months as the PRP stimulates the stem cells, blood vessels, and collagen, and effects typically last for 18 months. Laser vaginal rejuvenation may take up to one month for the full vaginal tightening, lubrication, and elasticity results to develop. This treatment may be repeated if necessary. Additional pregnancies may affect the longevity and quality of your vaginal rejuvenation.
