Breast Augmentation
Aging, genetics, and lifestyle factors can affect the size and shape of the breasts and produce a displeasing aesthetic. Women with deflated, asymmetrical, or naturally small breasts may desire a fuller and more proportionate bustline. With breast augmentation surgery, patients can achieve a flattering breast aesthetic and a voluptuous silhouette. Breast augmentation is a customizable procedure with various options to achieve your ideal breast shape and size. The details of your breast augmentation will be established during your initial appointment with Dr. Tran. Many women experience an increased sense of confidence as a result of the added volume and youthful contours they achieve after this procedure.
Is Breast Augmentation Surgery Right for Me?
After Weight Loss
Significant weight fluctuations can cause the breasts to lose volume, resulting in deflated, sagging, or poorly shaped breasts. Breast augmentation (often performed in conjunction with a breast lift procedure) can revitalize the breasts and produce a more youthful appearance.
Naturally Small Breasts
Some women are born with naturally small breasts that appear disproportionate to their body frame. Patients who undergo breast augmentation can obtain the full and prominent breasts they desire, which typically enhances their body confidence.
Post-pregnancy
Pregnancy can alter a woman’s body in various ways. One of the most noticeable changes that occurs after pregnancy and breastfeeding is deflated breasts. Those who opt for breast augmentation can restore lost volume and improve the overall aesthetic of their breasts.
Your Unique Breast Augmentation Journey
Ideal Candidates
Women may consider this procedure if they want larger, fuller, and more symmetrical breasts. Patients who seek breast augmentation must be in good health and have a realistic expectation of their results. Women may choose breast augmentation to:
- Revitalize breasts that have been changed by pregnancy and nursing
- Increase size for aesthetic reasons
- Improve body proportions
- Correct misshapen or asymmetrical breasts
- Feel confident in their figure
Silicone vs. Saline
Silicone implants are FDA approved for patients age 22 and older. These implants are made of a silicone shell filled with a cohesive silicone gel. Silicone implants have a lower rupture rate and are also more likely to produce a natural look and feel than their saline alternatives.
Saline implants are FDA approved for patients age 18 and older. These implants are made of a silicone shell filled with sterile saline (saltwater solution) after they have been placed into the breast pocket, at which point they can also be slightly adjusted in size. If they rupture, the implant failure is immediately evident.
Consultation
Once you fill out an online contact form, you will be reached to confirm an appointment for a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Tran. This meeting includes a complete analysis of your health history, any medications you are taking, and what you wish to achieve with the procedure. You should have all of this information with you when you come to your appointment. Dr. Tran will discuss the techniques that will best provide you with the results you desire and answer any questions you may have.
Procedure
Surgery overview: Breast augmentation is typically performed with general anesthesia and takes about two hours to complete. Based on the techniques agreed upon during your consultation, Dr. Tran will place the implants either above or below the pectoral muscle.
Incision location: The two most common incision locations are under the breast along the crease (inframammary) and around the nipple (periareolar). Other incision locations include in the underarm (transaxillary) and through the umbilicus (transumbilical, or TUBA). The pros and cons of each will be discussed before your surgery to help determine the most appropriate approach for you.
Post-operative Concerns After Breast Augmentation
Recovery
Typically, patients are advised to wear a supportive compression garment during their recovery to minimize side effects, such as swelling, which should subside significantly within three weeks. Residual swelling may persist for a few months. You must get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activities as well as lifting. Patients can usually resume working in one week and continue their exercise regimens in six weeks. A detailed recovery timeline will be given to you at your consultation appointment.
Scars
As with any surgery, there is a risk of developing scars after breast augmentation. However, Dr. Tran performs each procedure by placing all incisions in discreet locations so that any scarring can be concealed with clothing. Proper aftercare can help incisions heal well and eventually blend into the surrounding skin.
Cost
The cost of your personalized breast augmentation procedure will depend on various factors, such as the type of implants, surgical technique, anesthesia fees, and facility fees. An accurate cost estimate will be calculated during your initial consultation.
Pain
Most patients experience some discomfort after breast augmentation. However, pain can be managed with medication as prescribed by Dr. Tran. Wearing the recommended compression garment and restricting your activities can also help make the recovery process more comfortable.
