Facelift

Many factors contribute to aging facial tissues, including environmental conditions, gravity, hereditary traits, and stress. As we age, the tissues become loose and relaxed, causing wrinkles and sagging. We may begin to appear older than we feel, leading to poor self-esteem. Skin and the underlying facial tissues can be tightened and repositioned with rhytidectomy, also known as facelift surgery, which can remove up to a decade of aging from your face.

Benefits of a Facelift

Improved Confidence

Facelift surgery is designed to reduce the signs of aging in the face and neck to provide a rested, youthful appearance. Patients often feel a boost in their self-confidence after undergoing a facelift because their face looks closer to their ideal contour.

Natural-Looking Results

Advanced technology and Dr. Tran’s facelift techniques allow the skin and muscles to be pulled taut without a surprised or “windblown” look. The results are long lasting and look natural for an enhanced youthful appearance.

Multiple Technique Options

There are many facelift methods available to address your concerns, whether you want minimal wrinkle correction or a complete facial rejuvenation. During your consultation, Dr. Tran will evaluate your preferences and concerns to make a customized procedure plan to achieve your desired results.

Facelift Surgery Options

Traditional

The traditional (standard) facelift is designed to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin in the lower face, jowls, and neck region. Local or general anesthesia is administered, and then incisions are made behind the hairline that begin near the temples, extend around the front of the ears, and end in the lower scalp. Dr. Tran removes excess skin, tightens facial muscles, and redrapes the remaining skin to achieve a youthful appearance. In some cases, fat is sculpted, redistributed, or removed through liposuction for a thinner facial shape.

Limited Incision

A limited incision facelift, also known as a mini facelift, is a less invasive approach for more subtle enhancement in the lower face. There are fewer smaller incisions made along the hairline above each ear or in the natural creases around the ears. Limited incision facelift surgery is performed while the patient is under local anesthesia or general anesthesia, sometimes with sedation, depending on the patient’s goals and preferences. After a limited incision facelift, the recovery time is quicker, and minor wrinkles and excess skin are reduced.

Neck Lift

Neck lift surgery is designed to tighten neck muscles and remove excess skin for a smoother, youthful neck contour. Fat is sometimes removed from the neck for a slimmer appearance. While often performed in combination with a facelift, neck lift surgery can also be completed as a standalone procedure.

Addressing Your Concerns

Recovery

Patients may experience bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort during their recovery, which can be relieved with prescription pain medication. It will help you recover quicker and relax after your procedure if you have a friend or loved one take care of you for the first two days. Most patients resume normal daily activities within two weeks. Sun protection is essential for at least three weeks after surgery to protect the skin and allow scars to heal. It is recommended to avoid exercise for the first four weeks to avoid straining yourself.

Cost

Each procedure will vary in price depending on which techniques are used. Additional costs may include:

  • Surgeon’s fees
  • Hospital or surgical facility charges
  • Anesthesia fees
  • Prescriptions
  • Post-surgical dressings
  • Medical tests

Scars

Scarring associated with facelift surgery is typically inconspicuous, as incisions are made within the hairline and around the ears. Cosmetics can usually conceal any visible scarring.

Pain

Pain is typically mild following a facelift. Prescription pain medication will be prescribed and should be filled prior to your surgery so it is ready when you return home to recover.
